  • 4 bone-in pork chops
  • 2 tbsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

  1. Set the oven to 400 ℉ (200 ° C).
  2. Mix the Chinese five-spice powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Rub the mixture into the pork chops thoroughly. In a large non-stick saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  3. Cook the pork chops for two to three minutes per side or until browned. Transfer the pork chops to an oven-safe dish and bake them.
  4. Bake the pork chops for 15-20 mins or until cooked through. While the pork chops are baking, add the onion, garlic, red and yellow bell peppers, and mushrooms to the same pan used to sear the pork chops.
  5. Cook the vegetables until tender and fragrant, about 5 minutes. Serve the pork chops with the cooked vegetables and rice, garnished with fresh cilantro leaves.
