  • 4 pears, peeled, cored, and halved
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 ½ cups white wine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole star anise
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  1. In a medium non-stick saucepan, take the water, wine, sugar, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and vanilla extract to a boil over high heat.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low and add the pear halves to the saucepan, ensuring they are fully immersed in the liquid. Cover and simmer for 25-30 mins or until the pears are tender.
  3. Using a slotted spoon, remove the pears from the saucepan and place them on a serving dish. Raise the heat to high and reduce the liquid in the saucepan by half, about 5-7 mins.
  4. Pour the reduced liquid over the pears. Enjoy!
